GRAND OPENING: Sweet Hello Bridal & Formal Co
When we first moved to Watertown, NY I’ll be honest, it was culture shock. After living in Boston for 4 years, London for 1 year, and San Antonio for 1.5 years, moving to a small town like Watertown was a major shift. 90% of what you hear about the Watertown, NY area is not the best. Being the positive person I am, I knew there was going to be something to look forward to when we moved here. Every person we spoke with made it sound like there was nothing up here. They weren’t lying, but they definitely weren’t telling the truth either…
As you pull off the interstate to drive into Watertown, you see a billboard for the mall. I mean come on! Any mall that has Bath and Body Works or Victoria Secret is a good mall. When I saw that sign, I knew there was going to be something to look forward to.
As time passed and we started exploring around the area, we would find little hidden gems and hot spots in town. When it came time to find a seamstress or local bridal shop to alter my wedding gown, I knew I was going to be in a bind. I didn’t want to drive down to Syracuse. There had to be something local.
Much to my surprise, there was a local seamstress. But she worked out of her house. I did find a few other bridal shops in town, but none that would take on the work that I needed done to my gown. The existing bridal shops in town had been there for years and weren’t the upscale, exclusive, boutique service you’d hope for.
When I heard a new bridal shop was moving into town I was ecstatic! Not for me, but for my brides. Sweet Hello opened their doors on Saturday, January 25th and I was beyond thrilled to be one of the first visitors that day. Here are some sneak peeks of their grand opening.
Isn’t this shop beautiful?! After speaking with one of the co-founders, Lindsay, I learned some interesting and unique qualities about the store. First, it’s owned by sisters which in its own right is just amazing and so special. We started chatting about their service and the experience a bride receives as soon as she walks through the front door.
The bridal shop is enormous and each space in the shop has a purpose. From the wedding party attire, to mother of the bride, male formalwear, and bridal gown. The variety in this store in unbelievable. Knowing some brides would come in and not find the exact gown they’re looking for, I had to ask. “Do you have a catalog of sorts where brides can order something else they may be looking for?” Much to my surprise, the answer was an astounding “Yes!”. This really is a one-stop-shop for the wedding couple and wedding party.
As we continued walking through the shop, Lindsay brought me back to the exclusive bridal suite. The one room every bride wants to experience when shopping for her wedding gown. This exclusive space is by appointment only and truly provides the one-of-a-kind, exclusive experience all brides are looking for. It’s a safe space to enjoy trying on gowns, relaxing with your wedding party, snacking on hors d’oeurves, sipping some champagne, and taking in this once in a lifetime experience.
Sweet Hello invited lots of local vendors to participate in the fun and showcase their services. From a catering company, Photo Booth company, to a florist, bakery, and vintage rental company. It was a fun filled day and the perfect way to officially open their doors.
It's always great to see unique businesses come into town and thrive in this industry. Upstate NY needs more businesses like Sweet Hello, unique to the events industry. I can't wait to watch their business grow and work alongside them for many events to come.
